Women Talk   (6:30 – 7 am)

 

6:30amVolunteer Fairfax/Educational Volunteering – Samantha Watson discusses volunteer opportunities and community partnerships in the education system in Fairfax County with Shelley Prince, Specialist with the Mentor Works Program, and Jay Garant, Co-coordinator for Fairfax County Public School’s Business and Community Partnerships.  Each guest explains their program and talks about how they foster real-life learning through these programs and how they teach the value of volunteerism.  More info: www.fcps.edu and www.volunteerfairfax.org.

 

6:45am - Women Talk/EnvironmentCarol Blymire, Laurie Strongin and Kim Love discuss where each presidential candidate stands on environmental issues.  They also look at the connection between business and the environment, and how alternative energy sources can benefit even small family businesses like farms that lease space for windmills.  In addition, they talk about how environmental considerations affect their individual behavior and that of others in the DC area.
