Now, here what's our "reviewers" had to say...

Hi Loo,

I am writing to let you know that my friend and I had a great time with you and the other winners who met at Flemming's restaurant for dinner courtesy of  WASH-FM.  I enjoyed the conversation, food, and company.  RENT at Wolftrap - it was FANTASTIC!  I do not get out very often so this was a special opportunity for me to see a show I probably would have never been able to see.

Thank you for a lovely evening.  I will be listening to win your next prize!

Sincerely,

Sharon Ross

Dinner at Flemings was surprising.  As I suspect many teenagers would react, when Brigid saw the prepared menu for our dinner her first remark was ‘There are no hamburgers”.   Honestly, neither of us was absolutely certain of what some of the items listed were.  Being the driver for the night, I wasn’t able to enjoy the variety of wines served with each course, but that did in no way lessen the enjoyment of the food.  By the end of the meal, Brigid admitted she could possibly become used to really good food.

The night was very warm and humid, but the show “Rent” quickly made you forget your surroundings and get involved in the winter happenings on stage.  The coats and scarves the characters wore on stage had to have been stifling in the heat, but the actors gave no hint of that in their performances.  The show was bright and fast paced, the sound clear and crisp.  Intermission arrived before we expected, as did the end of the show.   This was the first professional live musical Brigid and been to, and though she was embarrassed to have her mom cry at the sad parts, she truly enjoyed the experience.

Loo:  It was a pleasure for my wife and I to be a part of your dinner and a show review.   Fleming's Steakhouse & Wine Bar was great.  The food was superb, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was fantastic.  Although, I had seen Rent 3 previous times, this fourth time was the most memorable.  The show was great as usual, but the company who attended with us made it all that more special.  My wife and I thank you so much for providing us with an evening we will never forget.  We love WASH FM and the morning crew of Loo and Lori.

Now, here what's our "reviewers" had to say...

Loo,

Lynn and I would like to thank you again for an incredible evening.  We thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and Wendy, as well as the other couples.  We could not have asked for a more enjoyable meal or entertaining show.  Our hats go off to you and the WASH-FM Team for making the evening so memorable.

The meal at Fleming’s was superb!  The atmosphere and service were second to none.  The food seemed to improve with each course. The cheese and vegetables were a great way to start the meal.  I love cheese, but can’t ever recall tasting cheese as flavorful as what Fleming’s served.  The Swiss and blue cheese were to die for, and the sparkling white wine seemed to compliment the cheese to perfection.  The second course of broccoli and cheese soup further helped me realize what a special meal I was in for that evening.  The wine served with the soup was equally as special.  Then came the delightful salad.

As you know, I polished off the salad rather quickly; in fact, before you could get your camera out.   I couldn't help myself...the delicious combination of fresh lettuce, sweet cranberries, nuts, and homemade dressing perfectly complimented each other.  Then couple that with another glass of Fleming’s fine wine and good company, and the night was off to a great start, and only getting better.

As if on cue, the superb service by the Fleming’s staff continued when they delivered a perfectly seasoned and prepared rib-eye steak, with sides of succulent scalloped potatoes, and a creamy spinach casserole.  The steak was by far the best I’ve experienced, and the sides were equally as impressive.  Continuing their tradition started with the first course, the friendly staff refreshed our glasses with a delightful red wine which accompanied our main course.  The big question on my mind at this point was would there be room for dessert?   As this was a special night, I made the room.

The dessert was a generous portion of cake, which I would describe similar to a turtle pie.  Once again, Fleming’s hit the bulls-eye with another perfect plate.  This time served with a smooth cup of fresh hot coffee.   It was the perfect conclusion of an incredible meal as a superb restaurant.   I would recommend Fleming’s to anyone.  You can bet I’ll be going back!

The show H.M. S Pinafore at Wolf Trap was a first class production, both entertaining and enjoyable.  The cast was equally talented and enthusiastic.  The set was extremely well done, and the plot was riveting.  To top that, the weather was absolutely beautiful.  Quite simply, H.M.S. Pinafore was a perfect ending to a perfect night.

Lynn and I can’t thank you and the WASH-FM Team enough.  You all made the night one we’ll never forget.

      Sincerely,

Ralph and Lynn Scolamiero

The dinner at Fleming's was delicious. This was our first experience with wine pairing with different parts of the meal and it was an interesting experience (we enjoyed the white wines the best because we enjoy a sweeter wine). The turtle pie was a wonderful ending to the meal.

We enjoyed the performance of H.M.S. Pinafore.  It had a good story line that was easy to follow. We enjoyed the way it turned out -- Ralph and the Captian, entrusted to Little Buttercup as babies, were somehow switched and because of this they were then able to marry the women they loved. Ralph married Josephine, the Captian married Little Buttercup, and Sir Joseph married Hebe (because he wanted someone to take care of him).

Hi Loo,

Thank you very much for meeting with us (Wa & Toan) Friday, June 20, It was our honor to see and talk to you in real person. This was my first time won a prize from a radio station. Fleming was a great dining experience. We don't drink wine at all, but found it was very interesting to see that every dish goes with a different type of wine. From the appretizer to the dessert, every dish was very delicious and tasty. Fleming's staffs were very friendly, detail oriented and professional. The atmosphere was cozy and romantic. I am definitely recommend this restaurant to everybody. The H.M.S. Pinafore show was excellent. I had never been to Wolf Trap before, and I loved it very much. I will definitely coming back. The performers were increditable talented. The music was lovely. The position of the seats were great. We had a wonderful time!

Sincere,
Wa & Toan

It was a balmy night under the stars at Wolf Trap. As the melodious voices of the crew of HMS Pinafore drifted over the audience, there was a distinct salt tang in the air. You could almost feel the deck rolling beneath your seat.

But seriously, it was a most enjoyable evening. Fleming’s is always a treat and Friday night was no different. From the opening cheese tray with a sparkling Blanc de Blanc from California to a decadent Walnut Turtle Pie with a luscious Merlot, again from California, the meal was outstanding and graciously presented by a professional wait staff.

On to Wolf Trap, where a most comfortable evening awaited us. I’d never seen HMS Pinafore performed, but was familiar with some of the tunes. What a difference seeing it live makes. Considering it was first performed in 1878, its timeless story of love and social station resounds today.

Stephen Quint persued his role as Sir Joseph Porter with a relish and humor that delighted all. Laurelyn Chase as Josephine (the Captain’s daughter) filled the Filene Center with her voice. Angela Smith brought a delightful twist to the role of Little Buttercup.

The showed flowed and the evening passed too quickly. In addition to bravos for the cast, bravo to WASH FM for making such a wonderful evening available.

Now, here what's our "reviewers" had to say...

Dear Loo,

Thank you so much for a wonderful dining experience as well as a fabulous show!  It was so nice to meet you and your wife, Wendy, and how nice it'll be to picture your face when we hear your voice on the radio!

Fleming's was everything we expected and more.  The salmon bruschetta was superb, the ceaser salad was crisp and had just the right amount of garlic.  I had the Mako shark with lump crab meat which was out of this world.  Calvin had the beef tenderloin which was grilled to perfection.  I loved the green beans w/ almonds and the scalloped potatoes were yummy too!   We especially enjoyed having the different wines to accompany each course - even my husband indulged which he rarely does!  To top it off with the cheese cake and blueberries, we were in heaven.

On to Wolf Trap to see Riverdance.........the night air was cool, the stars were bright, it was the perfect evening for a show.  We were blown away by the talent of all the dancers especially the Russian performers.  The music was fun, the violinist was extraordinary - listening to her solo's under the moonlight is an experience we will always remember!

Thank you, Loo, for such a special evening.  We will always remember it and will definitely be going back to Flemings!

Yours,
Calvin and Jennifer

Review of Flemings/Riverdance

By Cindra

I’ll start my review not at dinner but by commenting about the professionalism displayed by the WASH-FM staff. The promotions office called and left a very detailed message regarding the procedure to obtain the tickets for the show and the details for the evening.

When I got to the station the young man was very courteous and able to answer all my questions.  When the time was changed for dinner we all received a call informing us of the change. Thank-you!

Flemings was a dining experience that I can say was a first for me. I have never experienced the wine pairing with the different courses, this could become my newest area of interest. The Staff was polite, knowledgeable, and efficient. The servers had wonderful personalities that added a dimension to the evening. The meal from the appetizers to the dessert was delectable. Everything was prepared to perfection. I noticed at the table that several people had dietary considerations, Flemings made sure all requests for accommodations were taken care to the delight of the customers.

Riverdance, what can you say about a show that had excellent music, incredibly talented performers, and performed at an amazing venue. How do they move their legs so fast? Could it be the Fleming wine that made it difficult to follow! It was amazing to see the talent of these individuals and the passion in which they dance. Seeing the performance on TV doesn’t compare to seeing it live. See it live, Feel it live, you won’t regret it!

The entire evening was an incredible treat for my husband and me. To leave our hectic lives behind for just a few hours and to spend time together was something we don’t do often enough. Thanks for providing the opportunity for us realize how important it is to make this type of outing more routine.

Thank-you Loo Katz and WASH-FM!

Okay, finally, the review...

Dinner was great, the conversation even better.  It was nice to know that radio celebs are great people off the air as well as on!  Even though I went off the diet for the evening, I could not have said no to a perfectly cooked tenderloin, house-special au gratin potatoes and yummy cheesecake.

Riverdance was fantastic.  Actually, it was much different than I expected.  I was especially impressed with the integration of what appeared to be on the surface radically different styles of dance.  Who would have thought you could combine flamenco dance and soft shoe?  The weather made for a perfect evening.  Thanks again for letting us join you!
Caitlin

Fleming’s was absolutely wonderful! Everything from the bruschetta appetizer to the blueberry cheesecake was delicious. Since I don’t drink, I can’t say much about the wine, except that everyone that was drinking the wine enjoyed it.  The food was fantastic. The service was very good and the waiters were very polite. I definitely recommend eating there!!

Riverdance was phenomenal. The show was high energy and it was a great opportunity to see Irish dancing and to experience that culture. The music and dancing went very well together. If anybody gets the chance to see it, I’d say go for it. The parking at WolfTrap was easy to find and easy to get out of after the show. There was a bit of walk from the parking lot to the venue itself, but it wasn’t bad- we did see a trolley if anybody needed it. The seats were fantastic!
