On Thursday night Oprah Winfrey interviewed Lance Armstrong on her OWN network where he finally admitted he was doping while competing for all 7 Tour de France titles.   Armstrong says removing his own blood and re-injecting it into his system weeks later was designed to build strength and endurance. The cyclist who was stripped of his seven Tour de France wins.

The president of the World Anti-Doping Agency says Lance Armstrong's defense that he doped to create "a level playing field" is "a convenient way of justifying what he did - a fraud."

Following the interview some sports writers also weighed in on what they thought about the apology.  Veteran sports writer Rick Reilly says, "After years of lying to my face, Lance Armstrong apologizes in an email. He can keep it." Long-time Armstrong critic David Walsh tells the BBC that Armstrong "is probably the biggest cheat sport has ever known."
