Dear Delilah,
Every year during the Christmas season my family and I tune into your show. The stories you share inspire us, fill us with joy, and remind us just what Christmas is truly about. This year we decided it was time to share our Christmas with you and your audience.
We live nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains where there is an abundance of wildlife. One Christmas I was reminded that it's often the pure magic of Christmas that makes life long memories- not the size of the gifts, or the opulence of decorating. After a long day of wrapping, baking and last minute errands, we stumbled in from a Christmas Eve church service. We finally quieted the children and tucked them into bed. As was a ritual, we cracked their windows so they could hear Santa's sleigh bells as he arrived. Santa's helper would venture outside and ring sleigh bells. Always to their delight, my children would spring from their beds to see if they could catch a glimpse of the jolly ol' man. This particular year, we threw open the blinds, "and what to our wondering eyes should appear?" There on a hill behind the house silhouetted against the Christmas sky were 8 male deer with large antlers. They had conveniently lined up in a row as if they had been pulling Santa's sleigh. My children just stood there slack jawed and wide-eyed, this holiday image imprinted on their minds forever. The memories of gifts received are soon forgotten, however this story is always revisited year after year rekindling our Christmas spirit.
Merry Christmas,
Nancy
What's the holiday story you tell over and over again? Is it a story of the wonder of hearing "Santa's" jingling bells outside your window as a child? Is it a story of the perfect holiday gift that came in the form of your child or grandchild? Is it a story of comedy, the night Christmas dinner was burnt to a crisp? Is it a story of giving, and surprising a needy family with Christmas gifts? Or is it a story of tradition, and hiking two days into the mountains every year to find the perfect Christmas tree?
I love your stories! I use your stories and I share them to spread the Christmas spirit and the magic that makes this time of year so very special. I hope to keep sharing more wonderful stories like Nancy's, so call me at 1-888-633-5452 or email me at D@Delilah.com and tell me yours today.
