Pinterest's Most Popular Wedding Trends of 2024

Whether you’re planning a wedding or just window shopping for when you do, Pinterest helps couples make their vision a reality. So far in 2024, there have been more than 400-million wedding-related searches and over 2-billion wedding ideas saved on the site.

  • While it can be tough to keep up with what’s in and what’s out with weddings, Pinterest sees it all and shares it in an annual report.
  • They come out with a list of the top wedding trends every year, based on an analysis of search data on their platform and identifying the search terms that have increased from the previous year.

Pinterest’s Most Popular Wedding Trends of 2024

  • Laid-back celebrations - The site predicts we’ll see fewer over-the-top, elaborate weddings with enormous guest lists and more intimate events that focus on the guest experience. Pinterest reports searches for “simple wedding gowns” have increased 205% over the last year, “Natural glam makeup” searches are up 710%, while “small backyard wedding reception” searches have increased 300%.
  • Vintage aesthetics - At the end of 2023, Pinterest’s forecast shared that retro weddings would skyrocket this year and their search data shows they’re right. For decor, “70s inspired wedding” saw the biggest jump, an 1800% increase from last year. “Vintage inspired wedding” climbed 240% over the past year and searches for “vintage wedding rings antique” have gone up 430% since 2023.
  • Colorful vow exchanges - Pinterest search data shows “colorful eclectic decor” has increased 325% from last year, while “colorful bridal bouquet” searches are up 70%. Searches for “colorful garden weddings” have climbed 650%, while “red heart cake” searches jumped 130% since last year.
  • Gothic nuptials - But not all brides and grooms want a rainbow of hues on their wedding day. Gothic weddings featuring dark, moody decor are also trending, with “dark fantasy wedding” searches seeing a 1650% increase, while searches for “Victorian gothic wedding” have increased 170% over the last year.
